India is one of NTT Data’s largest markets by headcount, with operations spread across multiple group entities serving clients around the world. With thousands of employees spread across Mumbai, Gurgaon, and offices pan-India, the company needed a reliable partner to modernise its payroll process.
A Complex, Multi-Entity Operation
Running payroll for a multinational at this scale means maintaining a separate set of statutory obligations and a separate set of books for every entity, on top of a workforce split across geographies—all while keeping every entity individually accurate and every employee record current. The more entities and locations involved, the harder a manual process is to hold together, and the harder an inconsistency is to trace once it happens—whether that shows up as a compliance gap, or simply as a slower, less reliable experience for employees. Payroll run this way tends to become a coordination problem as much as a processing one, with accountability spread thin across teams and no single owner able to see the whole picture at once.
That was the backdrop when NTT Data turned to TeamLease HRtech’s managed payroll solution in 2016 to modernise its payroll and HR operations, with three clear priorities guiding the rollout: modernisation, compliance, and employee enablement.
TeamLease HRtech’s Approach
Rather than a rip-and-replace, TeamLease HRtech built the rollout around the systems NTT Data already had. Its HRMS, Oracle Fusion, stayed in place—TeamLease HRtech integrated its managed payroll solution directly with it, migrating data through a smooth, seamless onboarding process instead of disrupting a system that was already working for the business.
From there, the team configured the specific modules NTT Data needed, each mapped to one of the three original priorities. Leave Management and Non-CTC Reimbursement made day-to-day HR interactions simpler for employees; Workflow Automation modernised how HR processes actually ran. An Exit Management module is currently being rolled out, extending that same consistency to the end of the employee lifecycle.
Throughout, TeamLease HRtech provided tailored training and hands-on support to NTT Data’s own HR teams—not a handover of documentation, but ongoing enablement, so day-to-day ownership of the new platform sat with people who understood both the system and the business behind it.
That approach runs on the same discipline TeamLease HRtech brings to every client relationship. Every month, a documented payroll workflow runs the same four stages: input scrutiny, pre-payroll checks, processing, and post-payroll checks. Specific, repeatable controls run at every stage—duplicate bank account checks, PAN validation, variance reporting—the kind of scrutiny designed to protect payroll accuracy by catching a discrepancy before it ever reaches an employee’s payslip, not after.
That discipline is reflected in TeamLease HRtech’s ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 Type II certifications, and in a track record spanning more than 50 years of payroll and employee benefits expertise—a scale at which TeamLease HRtech’s managed payroll solution now processes over 2.2 lakh payslips every month.
The Results
The clearest measure of that rigor: a flawless 100% payroll accuracy rate, sustained across multiple entities. That’s a meaningful number at this scale—the more entities and locations a payroll operation spans, the more room there is for an error to creep in somewhere. Sustaining a 100% accuracy rate, consistently, across multiple entities isn’t just a successful launch; it’s the real test of whether a managed payroll partnership actually works.
Beyond accuracy, NTT Data has seen manual effort fall and processing cycles streamline, freeing its HR teams to spend less time on operational firefighting and more on the strategic work—from policy to people initiatives—that actually moves the business forward. Audit readiness has improved in step: with a single, accountable partner managing payroll across every entity, audit preparation is now simpler and faster company-wide, rather than a separate exercise repeated entity by entity.
Nearly a decade into the relationship, the work continues. The Exit Management rollout still in progress is a reminder that this is an ongoing partnership, not a one-time project with a finish line—a relationship that keeps evolving alongside the business it supports.
For any multinational running payroll across multiple entities and a workforce of comparable scale, that kind of sustained, accountable execution—not a single successful rollout, but years of consistently flawless accuracy—is what a genuinely guaranteed managed payroll partnership looks like in practice.
